20 tips to write a good blog article

  1. Create a captivating/appealing title.
  2. Be honest.
  3. Plan your article.
  4. Write it in stages.
  5. Don't waffle.
  6. Keep sentences and paragraphs short.
  7. Use paragraphs and sub headings to make reading/scanning easier. Even in short posts.
  8. Use bullet lists.
  9. Include photos/videos.
  10. Write sub headings that catch the eye when skimming.
  11. Link to related articles/websites and any resources you've referenced.
  12. Promote discussion and try and get your users involved (through comments).
  13. Don't always write about yourself or company.
  14. Be helpful and informative.
  15. Don't take yourself too seriously. Keep your sense of humour.
  16. Stay on topic.
  17. Don't try and cover everything in one post, split it up into a few articles.
  18. Be clear and easy to understand, remembering some readers may not be in your industry/space.
  19. Proof read, spell check and trim before publishing!
  20. Read your post out loud, and edit any tongue twisters.
